Fitchburg State Places Fourth At MASCAC Championships

Woolley earns top honors in the 100 meter hurdles with Open NE qualifying time of 14.39 seconds

Bridgewater, Mass. – The Fitchburg State women's outdoor track and field team placed fourth overall at the 2018 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a total of 51 points at Swenson Field on the campus of Bridgewater State University this afternoon.

Senior Annie Woolley (Malden, Mass.) led the way for the Green and Gold after being crowned the MASCAC/New England Alliance Champion in the 100 meter hurdles with an Open New England qualifying time of 14..39 seconds, while adding a second place effort in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.02 seconds.

Senior Casey Taylor (Chelmsford, Mass.) finished fourth in the 3000 meter steeple chase with time of 12:56.35, while in the 400 meter hurdles, senior Shawna Ryan (Hanson, Mass.) and sophomore Micalea Goldenberg (Douglas, Mass.) finished fourth and eighth with times of 1:11.63 and 1:14.52 respectively.

In the 1500 meter, junior Amy Kelly (Stoughton, Mass.) posted a time of 5:09.88 with a fifth place effort, while freshman Isabella Berardi (Norton, Mass.) turned in a tenth place finish in the 200 meter with time of 28.73 seconds.

The 4x100 meter relay team of senior Angelica Beato (Lowell, Mass.), Berardi, Goldenberg and newcomer Makaisha Gonzalez (Lancaster, Mass.) turned in a fourth place time of 54.28 seconds, while Kelly added a tenth place finish in the 800 meter with a time of 2:34.68.

In the field, sophomore Brianna Young (Mansfield, Mass.) finished eighth in the shot put with toss of 9.88 meters, while senior Sadie Zbikowski (Westminster, Mass.) notched a second place vault of 2.80 meters in the pole vault.

Sophomore Kelly Mccusker-Brown (Watertown, Mass.) placed sixth in the javelin with throw of 26.86m, while junior Jennifer Desilvestre (Beverly, Mass.) turned in a ninth place effort in the triple jump with mark of 9.17m to round out the top Falcons efforts on the afternoon.

The Fitchburg State women's outdoor track and field team return to action next weekend as select members complete at the 2018 DIII New England Championships, hosted by MIT, starting on Friday, May 4th at 2:00 PM.
