MASCAC Women’s Outdoor Track Pre-Season Poll Announced
Falcons tabbed fourth with a total of 13 points
FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State women's indoor track and field team was recently selected fourth with a total of 13 points in the 2019 MASCAC Pre-Season Women's Outdoor Track & Field Coaches Poll as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.
The Owls of Westfield State were selected as the pre-season favorite to win the 2019 MASCAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field crown after collecting five of the possible six first place ballots to amass a total of 25 points to outdistance second place Bridgewater State's total of 19 points, which included the final first place vote.
Finishing in third place with a total of 17 points was Worcester State, while Fitchburg State followed in fourth with 13 points. Framingham State was next, finishing in fifth with ten points, while Mass. Maritime closed out this year's MASCAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Preseason Poll in sixth with six points.
The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's oldest Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men's ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as an affiliate member in football beginning in 2013-14.
