Bridgewater, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University women's outdoor track & field team opened its 2019 season, placing 14th at the 2019 Bridgewater State Bears Invitational with a total of six points at Swenson Field.

How It Happened

Freshman Denise Yeboah (Worcester, Mass.) paced the Falcons with a fourth place effort in the long jump with a MASCAC qualifying jump of 4.69 meters, while classmate Chloe Guzman (Pawtucket, Conn.) added an eighth place finish in the 100 meter with post-season qualifying time of 13.78 seconds.

In the 1500 meter, newcomer Nyasia Torres (Fitchburg, Mass.) and senior Jennifer Desilvestre (Beverly, Mass.) posted MASCAC qualifying times of 6:15.37 and 6:19.76 respectively, while sophomore Sylvia Owusu-Agyeiwaa (Webster, Mass.) turned in a post-season qualifying time of 19.79 seconds in the 100 meter hurdles.

Yeboah put forth a solid time of 30.21 seconds in the 200 meter to collect her second MASCAC qualifying time on the day, while in the shot put junior Brianna Young (Mansfield, Mass.) (20.87m) and classmate Heisha Santos-Flores (Webster, Mass.) (16.81m) notched MASCAC qualifying marks.

In the javelin, freshman Breanna Lizotte (Hudson, Mass.) posted a post-season qualifying toss of 27.57 meters, while senior Madison Podedworny (Webster, Mass.) added a MASCAC qualifying throw of 20.52m to close out the top Fitchburg State performances on the day.
