Falcons Shine At Silfen Invitational

Owusu-Agyeiwaa and Guzman pace Green and Gold

New London, Conn. – The Fitchburg State University women's outdoor track & field team competed at the 2019 Silfen Invitational this afternoon, hosted by Connecticut College.

How It Happened

The women's 4x100 meter relay team of sophomore Paige Anderson (Winchendon, Mass.), freshman Chloe Guzman (Pawtucket, Conn.), classmate Denise Yeboah (Worcester, Mass.) and sophomore Sylvia Owusu-Agyeiwaa (Webster, Mass.) placed tenth overall with a time of 52.59 seconds, while in the 1500 meter, senior Jennifer Desilvestre (Beverly, Mass.) and newcomer Nyasia Torres (Fitchburg, Mass.) posted MASCAC qualifying times of 6:10.33 and 6:18.41 respectively.

In the 100 meter, Guzman and Owusu-Agyeiwaa turned in post-season qualifying times of 13.62 seconds and 13.88 seconds, while Owusu-Ageiwaa added her third MASCAC qualifying time on the afternoon after registering a time of 18.04 seconds in the 100 meter hurdles.

In the 200 meter, Yeboah and Guzman both qualified for the post-season with times of 28.65 seconds and 29.15 seconds, while Anderson (4.56m) and Yeboah (4.55m) notched MASCAC qualifying marks in the long jump.

In the field, junior Kelly Mccusker-Brown (Watertown, Mass.) and sophomore Allissa Carroll (Boxford, Mass.) turned in post-season qualifying tosses of 26.69m and 24.70m in the hammer throw, while in the discus, sophomore Guadalupe Dominguez (Worcester, Mass.) registered throws of 18.05m and 17.06 meters to qualify for MASCAC's.

Mccusker-Brown (24.50m) and sophomore Madison Podedworny (Webster, Mass.) (23.94m) qualified for MASCAC's in the javelin, while senior Brianna Young Mansfield, Mass.) added a post-season qualifying toss of 9.91 meters in the shotput..
