Camara Tabbed MASCAC Field Athlete Of The Week

Lowell, Mass. native notches first weekly accolade of the year 

Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State senior Makany Camara (Lowell, Mass.) was recently named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Track Field Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

The four-year Falcon notches her first weekly honor of the year after taking top honors in the high jump with a DIII New England qualifying mark of 1.62 meters, while adding a first place, DIII NE qualifying time of 15.58 seconds in the 100 meter hurdles.

Camara also finished tenth overall in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.38 seconds as well as leading the 4x100 meter relay team to a fourth place time of 54.69 seconds at the 2024 Corsair Invitational on Saturday. With her mark in the high jump, Makany currently ranks 11th in DIII and first in the East Region.

The Fitchburg State Women's Outdoor Track & Field team returns to action on Saturday as they host the Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational, starting at 10:00AM.
