MASCAC Pre-Season Women’s Volleyball Poll Announced

Falcons collect nine points for eighth pick overall

FITCHBURG, Mass. –The Fitchburg State Women's Volleyball team was recently selected eighth overall with a total of nine points in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) pre-season women's volleyball poll.

Framingham State, which claimed the MASCAC's regular season and post-season titles last season, collected seven of the eight first place ballots for 49 points, while Westfield State placed second with a total of 43 points, including the final first place vote.

Following in the third slot is MCLA with 32 points, while Bridgewater State ranked fourth in the pre-season poll with 31 points.

Worcester State landed in the fifth spot with 29 points, while Salem State ranked sixth with a total of 18 points. Rounding out the 2017 pre-season MASCAC women's volleyball poll were Massachusetts Maritime and Fitchburg State with 13 and nine points respectively

The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's oldest Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men's ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as an affiliate member in football in 2013-14.

The Fitchburg State women's volleyball team will kick off its 2017 season on Tuesday, September 5th as it travels to Anna Maria for a contest starting at 7:00 PM.
