Sylvester and Peirce pace combine for 22 digs in conference setback 

Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University women's volleyball team dropped 3-0 decision to the Owls of Westfield State University in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action this evening at the Parkinson Gymnasium.

How It Happened

Freshman libero Jessica Peirce (Brentwood, N.H.) paced the Green and Gold with a team-best 15 digs, two assists and one solo block, while junior outside hitter Nicole Sylvester (Everett, Mass.) added seven digs, four assists and one blocking assist. Junior setter Jaquelyn Manyak (Bolton, Mass.) was also solid for Fitchburg State, finishing with one service ace, two assists and a solo block.

For Westfield State, junior libero Lizzie Taylor (Medfield, Mass.) led the way with a game-best 17 digs, six assists and two service aces, while senior Tiara Vaughn (E. Falmouth, Mass.) chipped in with six service aces, three assists and six digs. Fellow senior Brigid Murray (Norfolk, Mass.) aided the Owls offense, totaling four digs, four assists, one blocking assist and four service aces in the victory.
