Osborne and Pease pace Falcons with 37 combined digs in non-conference setback 

Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to the Colonels of Curry College in non-conference action this evening at the Parkinson Gymnasium.

How It Happened

Junior middle hitter Kristina Osborne (Ashby, Mass.) led the way for the Green and Gold with a match-best 22 digs, five kills, three assists, two blocks and one service ace, while senior Serene Pease (Ashland, Mass.) finished with 15 digs. Newcomer Lauren Riccardi (Tewksbury, Mass.) was also solid for Fitchburg State, registering a team-leading six kills, one assist, one service ace and one dig.

For Curry, senior middle hitter Nicole Rice (Woburn, Mass.) paced the Colonels offense with a game-best eight kills, four solo blocks and one dig, while sophomore Monica Wilkes (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) added to the mix, collecting 17 digs, 16 assists and three kills. Junior Grace Stafford (W. Yarmouth, Mass.) put forth a strong showing for the visitors as well, posting seven kills, two assists, three service aces and 15 digs in the victory.

Fitchburg State freshman libero Jessica Peirce (Brentwood, N.H.) ranks within the top five in the MASCAC in digs per set (4.10) and service aces per set (0.67).
