Brett Pettis Named Women's Volleyball Coach

FITCHBURG, Mass. - Fitchburg State University Senior Director of Athletics and Recreation Matthew Burke has announced the hiring of Brett Pettis as the new head coach of the Women's Volleyball team. Pettis was the volunteer assistant coach with the program last season.

"I'd like to thank AD Burke for the opportunity to become the next head coach at Fitchburg State University. Coaching volleyball is my passion and coaching at FSU is a great place to grow the game." said Pettis. "I am eager to continue to develop the program and achieve success on the court, in the classroom and within the community."

Most recently Pettis was the JV coach at Marlboro High School and spent three years at Haverhill High School in the same position. His club background includes three years as the head coach of the Mass Patriot's and court coach at the Masspike Volleyball camp where he coordinated player evaluations..

"I am very pleased to bring coach Pettis on as our new head volleyball coach." spoke Burke. "I am confident Brett and his staff will be able to build our volleyball program to be very competitive in the MASCAC for years to come."

Pettis, a four-year member of the Emmanuel College men's volleyball team, was a three-time selection to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Academic All-Conference squad.

Pettis earned a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education and History with a minor in Management from Emmanuel College and a master's degree from Fitchburg State University in Special Education: Guided Studies, Professional Concentration.
