Fitchburg State places 22nd overall with 588 points

Westfield, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University women's cross country competed in the 22nd annual James Early Memorial Cross Country Invite, hosted by Westfield State University at Stanley this afternoon, placing 22nd overall with a total of 588 points.

How It Happened

The Green and Gold were sparked by junior Amy Kelly (Stoughton, Mass.), who crossed the finish line in 22nd place with a time of 20:09, while classmate Casey Taylor (Chelmsford, Mass.) turned in a time of 20:59 over the 5K layout.

Newcomer Kambrynn Bowman (Norton, Mass.) followed with a solid time of 21:09, while senior Nicole Gaffney (Paxton, Mass.) entered the chute with a time of 21:59.

Rounding out the top seven runners for Fitchburg State were senior Shawna Ryan (Hanson, Mass.), junior Jennifer Desilvestre (Beverly, Mass.) and freshman Krysta Grider (Hopedale, Mass.) with times of 23:00, 25:19 and 25:36 respectively.

Inside the Numbers

Fitchburg State placed 36th overall at last year's James Early Invitational with a total of 1046 points

Trinity claimed top honors after finishing with a total of 56 points.

Senior Abby Shafer (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) of New England College crossed the finish line first overall with a time of 18:08.
