Falcons Place Sixth At MASCAC WXC Championships

Kelly collects All-MASCAC honors with fourth place time of 20:31.43 

Williamstown, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University women's cross country team placed sixth overall with a total of 153 points at the 2018 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Cross Country Championships this morning at Mount Greylock High School.

How It Happened

Fitchburg State was led by senior Amy Kelly (Stoughton, Mass./Stoughton), who collected All-MASCAC honors with a fourth place time of 20:31.43, while freshman Savannah Wojcik (Belchertown, Mass./Belchertown) entered the chute with a time of 25:41.89 over the 5K layout.

Newcomer Nyasia Torres (Fitchburg, Mass./Fitchburg) was next to cross the finish line with a time of 25:54.70, while senior Jennifer Desilvestre (Beverly, Mass./Beverly) followed with a time 26:08.60, Sophomore Melony Ellis (West Yarmouth, Mass./West Yarmouth) rounded out the top efforts for the Green and Gold on the day with a time 30:32.03.

Inside the Numbers

Fitchburg State placed fifth overall at last year's MASCAC Championships with a total of 113 points.

The Lancers of Worcester State placed first overall at this year's MASCAC Championships with a total of 38 points.

Worcester State junior Elisabeth Olson (Westford, Mass./Westford Academy took top honors at the 2018 MASCAC Championships, posting a time of 20:03.86.
