Murphy leads Fitchburg State with 25th place time of 12:44.8

Keene, N.H. – The Fitchburg State University women's cross country team opened their 2019 season on Saturday, placing seventh verall at the 2019 Keene State College Early Bird Invitational with a total of 193 points.

Place: 7th – 193 Points

How It Happened

Freshman Abigail Murphy (Quincy, Mass.) paced Fitchburg State, placing 24th overall with time of 12:44.8 over the 2M course, while freshman Lilah McAndrew (Old Lyme, Conn.) was next into the chute, finishing 30th with time of 12:58.8.

Junior Olivia Mullins (Plaistow, N.H.) followed in 31st with a time of 12:59.6, while newcomer Nicole Cofer (Lowell, Mass.) added 52nd place time of 14:30.2. Rounding the top seven finishers for the Falcons were freshman Erin Maida (Danbury, Conn.), classmate  Christine Nibitanga (Worcester, Mass.) and junior Krysta Grider (Hopedale, Mass.) with times of 15:20.0, 15:34.9 and 16:47.3.

Inside the Numbers

Fitchburg State did not run at last year's Keene State Early Bird Invitational. 

Springfield won the 2019 Keene State Early Bird Invitational with a total of 46 points.

Senior Emily Manfra (Stoneham, Mass.) of Suffolk University placed first overall at the 2019 Keene State Early Bird Invitational with a time of 11:03.2.
