Four Falcons Set Personal Best

Westfield, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University women's cross country team competed at the 2019 James Early Memorial Invitational, hosted by Westfield State University this morning.


How It Happened

Finishing the 5k course in under twenty minutes, freshman Lilah McAndrew (Old Lyme, Conn.) and junior Olivia Mullins (Plaistow, NH) crossed the chute at 19:50.0 and 19:55.49 respectively.

Freshman Erin Maida (Danbury, Conn.) finished third for the Green and Gold with a time of 22:37.27 while senior Vera Ziegler crossed the finish at 22:57.10.

Fitchburg State only had four runners in the race, after the team was stricken by the flu.

Inside the Numbers

  • McAndrew and Mullins placed third and fourth for best all-time times for Falcons at the James Early Invitational.
  • All four FSU runners had personal records this week.
  • Amy O'Sullivan from Westfield State finished the course in 18:01.97 to capture the race.
  • Trinity College scored first place at the 2019 James Early Memorial Invite after amassing a total of 74 points.
