Bio

Jim McGuire enters his second year as Fitchburg State’s head strength and conditioning coach.

McGuire came to Fitchburg State after serving as the assistant strength and conditioning coach as the University of Delaware from 2015-2018. Prior to that, Jim was the assistant director of strength and conditioning at Merrimack College from August 2012-June 2015.

Prior to his stint as Merrimack, coach McGuire was a volunteer football strength and conditioning coach at Boston College (June 2012-August 2012), a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Springfield College (August 2011-May 2012) and a football strength and conditioning intern at the University of South Carolina (May 2011-July 2011).

Jim began his collegiate strength and conditioning coaching career at the College of the Holy Cross as a volunteer strength and conditioning intern from December of 2009-January of 2010.Following that, Jim had stints at Achieve Performance Training (June 2010-August 2010), Springfield College (August 2010-December 2010) and at the University of Connecticut (January 2011-May 2011).

Coach McGuire holds the following memberships and certifications:

National Strength and Conditioning Association: Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist
Functional Movement Screen-Level I Certification
American Red Cross: Adult CPR/AED Certified & Infant CPR Certified
Phi Epsilon Kappa Physical Education Honor Society

Jim graduated from Plymouth State University in May of 2010 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education, while also holding a Master’s of Education in Exercise Science and Sports Studies with a concentration in Strength & Conditioning from Springfield College (2012).
