Colleen (Mason) Bedard - 1999 Inductee

Colleen Mason Bedard was a four-year member of the indoor and outdoor track & field teams and a two-year participant on the cross-country squad. Colleen was named All-American four times, National Champion once, All-New England twenty times, All-ECAC fourteen times, Eastern Champion six times, New England Champion once and team captain seven times.

In her freshman year, Colleen was named All-New England in the 200 meters (FSC record 26.7) and the 4X220 relay (FSC record 1:48.8). Colleen set the long jump school record of 17'1" at the Connecticut Invitational. She was named All-New England during the outdoor season in the 100 meters and the FSC record-setting sprint medley relay (1:50.7).

As a sophomore, Colleen was named All-New England three times during the indoor season setting the 55-meter school record of 7.1 seconds and winning the 4X200 meter relay at the EAIAW meet. During her outdoor season, Colleen became Fitchburg State's first female All-American and qualified for the Nationals in the 200 meters and the 4X100 relay. Colleen was the New England Champion in the 200 meteers and was named All-EAIAW three times.

As a junior, Colleen was named to the All-New England team in the 55 meters, 4X100 relay, and mile relay and sprint medley as the indoor team finished eighth in the New England Championships. The FSC outdoor team finished fifth in the NCAA meet led by Colleen's All-American performances in both the 4X100 and the 4X400 meter relays. Colleen also ran on the FSC record-setting 4X100 meter relay team at the New England meet.

Collen's senior indoor season included ECAC Championships in the 300 yards (FSC record 42.7), 4X200 relay and 4X400 relay. She was named All-ECAC in the 55 meters and All-New England in the 55 meters, 4X200 and mile relays. Colleen led the FSC outdoor team to a fifth place NCAA finished as the mile relay team set the NCAA record of 3:50.13 and became National Champions. She was named All-ECAC in the 100 and 200 meters and won ECAC Championships in the 4X400 relay and the sprint medley (FSC record 1:47.6). Colleen was named All-New England in the 100 meters, 200 meters, 4X100 relay and the sprint medley relay.

Colleen's records in the 300 yards, mile relay, 4X200 relay, 100 meters, sprint medley and 4X400 relay still stands.
