Deborah Dion - 1994 Inductee

Deborah Dion, a 1976 graduate, earned an incredible 14 varsity letters in four different sports while at Fitchburg State. The Leominster native, who still resides in her hometown, played four years of basketball and softball, and three years of tennis and volleyball.

She led the Falcon volleyball team to two Mass. State College championships (in 1974 and 1975). In basketball FSC went a combined 34-8 during Dion's junior and senior seasons, winning the Mass. State title in 1975-76. That season she averaged nearly 14 points per game while leading the team in assists. Dion also made the winning basket in the Eastern Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (EAIAW) Championship Game, a 64-62 win over Worcester State.

Dion is currently an fourth grade teacher at the South Street Elementary School in Fitchburg. She is involved in numerous extracurricular activities, including being elected co-chairperson of the School Council at the South Street School.
