Joel A. Antolini

2014 Inductee - 1983 Graduate 

Joel A. Antolini participated on the track and cross-country teams during his four years at Fitchburg State University and was coached by the late Jim Sheehan of whom he has fond memories. In addition to being a member of several Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) team championships, Joel holds university records in numerous middle distance events and was crowned the New England Divison III champion in the 1,000 meters in 1982, recording a time of 2:28.32, a record which still stands.

"The combination of my academic and athletic experiences provided the foundation for my career as a teacher, coach, building and district administrator," he said. "Fitchburg was the place where I was nurtured by the faculty and developed life-long friendships. I'm proud to be a Fitchburg State alumnus and am honored to be inducted into the Hall of Fame."

A career educator for more than 39 years, Joel is a proud graduate of the class of 1983. While attending Fitchburg State, Antolini majored in industrial arts and education, earning the All-Around Student Award from the Industrial Arts Department.

Joel's career has included postions as an industrial arts teacher, high school assistant principal, middle/high school principle and assistant superintendent. His desire to be more involved with students has brought him to his current job as a Housemaster at Waltham High School. Throughout the years, Joel has coached many individual and team league and state champions in high school cross-country and track.

Antolini continues to run with his college roommate, Greg DeMeo, and is happily married to Ann Marie, both of whom are members of the class of 1983. Joel and Ann Marie have a 16 year-old daughter Rosalie and they have lived in Braintree for the past 10 years.
