Cordeau Named MASCAC Baseball Player Of The Week

Melrose, Mass. native collects second weekly honor of the season

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Fitchburg State sophomore outfielder Nicholas Cordeau (Melrose, Mass.) was recently tabbed Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Baseball Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

The second year outfielder hit .615 (8-for-13) with three double, two home runs, seven runs scored, four walks and three RBI in a 4-0 week for the Falcons. Cordeau went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in a 6-2 win over Lasell on Tuesday before finishing 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a home run, three runs scored and two RBI in a 9-7 comeback victory against Mass. Maritime on Friday.

Concluded the week, going a combined 2-of-5 with two runs scored, one home run, three walks and an RBI in a double header sweep over Mass. Maritime, including the eventually game-winning homer in a 1-0 victory in the night cap on Saturday.

The Fitchburg State baseball team (12-5, 3-0 MASCAC) returns to action on Wednesday as it travels to Worcester State to take on the Lancers for a MASCAC tilt, starting at 3:30 PM.
