Bio

Randy Ortiz is in his fifth season as an assistant coach for the Fitchburg State baseball team. Ortiz will serve as the recruiting coordinator and assist Coach Barnaby in all day-to-day operations of the baseball program.

He returns to the Falcons following a one-year stint as an assistant coach at NCAA DII Assumption College in Worcester, Mass. Ortiz served as the team's first-base coach and worked primarily with the outfielders and hitters, while also assisting in the program's recruiting efforts.

Ortiz was a four-year member of the Falcons' baseball team, ranking among the team leaders in hits, batting average, and RBI during his senior campaign. He received his Bachelor of Arts in English Studies in 2013 and will be pursuing his Master's degree through Fitchburg State. 

Ortiz also serves as media director and player development assistant for the Nor'Easters Baseball Academy based in Tewksbury, Mass. He is originally from Danielson, Conn. and currently resides in Leominster, Mass.​
