Field Hockey Names Trio To LEC All-Academic Team
Hosley and Richard earn LEC All-Academic Honors
Fitchburg, Mass. – Sophomore Kaelie Hosley (Barre, Mass.), classmate Sophia Laperle (Auburn, Mass.) and senior Molly Richard (Leominster, Mass.) were recently named to the 2018 Little East Conference Fall All-Academic team as announced by the league office Friday afternoon.
Members of the 2018 LEC All-Academic team must achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher through the 2017 spring semester and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. The student-athlete must also be a full-time member of a varsity sport and be enrolled in its institution for a full academic year.
Hosley and Laperle collected their first Little East Conference All-Academic selection, while Richard earned her third straight LEC All-Academic nomination.
This season, Hosley aided a Falcon defense that limited opponents to a minimal 2.14 goals per contest, while appearing in 18 games for the Green and Gold with ten games started from the back line. In addition, Kaelie turned aside four shots in an emergency start in the cage against Anna Maria on October 11th.
Laperle registered seven points on two goals and three assists in 17 games for the Green and Gold. while starting 12 contest for Fitchburg State from the forward position.
Richard concluded the 2018 campaign, ranking first on the squad with 30 points on a team-best 14 markers and four helpers, while starting all 20 games for the Falcons from the forward position. For her efforts, Molly garnered LEC All-Conference Second Team honors as well as being selected to the 2018 Longstreth/NFHCA (National Field Hockey Coaches Association) Division III New England West All-Region Second Team.
The Fitchburg State field hockey team concluded its 2018 campaign with an overall record of 10-10 and a 7-5 mark in the LEC.
