McGrath Named MASCAC Ice Hockey Goaltender Of The Week

Worcester, Mass. native collects second weekly accolade of the season

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Sophomore goaltender Brian McGrath (Worcester, Mass.) was recently selected Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Ice Hockey Goalie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

The second-year goaltender stopped 57 shots with a .950 save percentage and a 1.57 goals against average in a 2-0 week for the Green and Gold. McGrath turned aside 21 shots in an 8-1 triumph over Westfield State on Thursday before adding 35 saves in a 3-2 victory against Worcester State on Saturday.

The Fitchburg State ice hockey team (6-3-2, 3-1-2 MASCAC) returns to action following the semester break on Saturday, January 5th as it travels to UMass Dartmouth to take on the Corsairs at 6:00 PM.
