Fitchburg State Names Four To MASCAC All-Conference Team

Men's soccer earns MASCAC post season accolades

FITCHBURG, Mass. (November 7, 2008) - The Fitchburg State men's soccer team named four players to the MASCAC All-Conference first and second teams as selected by the conference's eight coaches.

First-year sophomore Lionso Ventura (Westminster, Mass./Oakmont) and senior Jeffrey Loven (Littleton, Mass./Littleton) were named to the MASCAC All-Conference second team for their offensive efforts this season. Ventura ranked second in scoring on the Falcons squad, totaling 11 points on five goals and one assist. The versatile rookie netted also netted one game winning goal over 16 games played. Loven was also solid this season, notching five points one two scores and one helper in 16 starts..

Defensive standouts Marco Ferrara (Billerica, Mass./Billerica) and Jude Connelly (Harvard, Mass./Bromfield School) were also named to the MASCAC All-Conference second team. The duo anchored the Falcons defensive squad that limited opponents to only 1.99 goals per game. Ferrara started all 17 games for the Falcons at the back position, while Connelly appeared in 13 games, registering seven points on two goals and three assists.

Fitchburg State ended its season with an overall record of 4-12-1 with a 0-6-1 record in the MASCAC.
