Falcons Fall to Rams in Season Finale, 3-2

Lucchesi tallies first collegiate goal

Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University men's soccer team concluded their fall season with a 3-2 loss to the hands of Framingham State University on Saturday afternoon in Massachusetts Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Alumni Field.

Prior to the contest, the Green and Gold honored seven seniors playing in their final regular season. The seniors are #2 Matan Shmerling (Amherst, Mass.), #6 Jefferson Acha (Lynn, Mass.), #10 Jared Burns (E. Bridgewater, Mass.) #13 Ibrahima Male (Pawtucket, R.I.), #18 Zachary Young (Capo Beach, Calif.), Alex Al-Zaibak and #23 Thomas Mahlert (North Oxford, Mass.).

How It Happened

The visitors tallied a pair of first half goals. In the 26^th minute freshman Pedro Santos (Medford, Mass) threaded a through pass to a streaking junior Isaac De Souza (Sao Paulo, Brazil) for his team-leading 14^th goal of the season.

Framingham doubled the score just seconds later, when junior Ken Stahovish (Springfield, Mass.) corralled a loose ball in the box and delivered a goal past the Falcons netminder.

After intermission the Falcons cut the deficit in half as sophomore Christian Lucchesi (Tewksbury, Mass.) tucked a loose ball inside the left post.

The Rams pushed the lead back to 3-1 in the 81^st minute with a goal from Pedro Santos (Medford, Mass.), assisted by Eugene Osei (Essex Harlow, England) .

However the Falcons wouldn't go quietly, when Hassan Koroma (Millbury, Mass.) notched his third goal of the season just two minutes later.

Framingham goaltender Josh Arno (Natick, Mass.) has several key saves down the stretch to preserve the win for the Rams.

Inside the Numbers

Arno finished with eight saves for his 4^th win of the season, while Branton Abbett (Jasper, Ind) stopped six shots in the loss for the Falcons.
