MASCAC Pre-Season Men’s Soccer Poll Announced

Falcons collect 12 points for seventh pick overall

FITCHBURG, Mass. –The Fitchburg State men's soccer team was recently selected seventh overall with a total of 12 points in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) pre-season men's soccer poll.

Bridgewater State was selected to win the 2019 MASCAC Men's Soccer Championship after capturing four first place votes for 46 points, while Framingham State placed second with a total of 44 points, including the other four first place ballots.

Landing in the third slot is Salem State with 43 points, while Worcester State ranked fourth in the pre-season poll with 29 points,

Sitting in the fifth spot was Westfield State with a total of 26 points, while Massachusetts Maritime followed in sixth with 17 points. Rounding out the 2018 pre-season MASCAC men's soccer poll are Fitchburg State and MCLA with 12 and seven points respectively

The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's oldest Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men's ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as an affiliate member in football in 2013-14.

The Fitchburg State men's soccer team will kick off its 2019 season on Friday, August 3oth as it hosts the Blazers of Elms College at Elliot Field for a contest starting at 7:00 PM.
