Falcons Place Fourth At MASCAC Championships

McWhinnie-Armstead Earns Top Honors In High Jump

Plymouth, N.H. – The Fitchburg State University men's indoor track & field team placed fourth overall at the 2018-19 MASCAC Indoor Track & Field Championships with a total of 56 points, hosted by Plymouth State University this afternoon.

How It Happened

Sophomore Christian McWhinnie-Armstead (Lowell, Mass.) earned the MASCAC/New England Alliance Championship in the high jump with a DIII NE qualifying mark of 2.02 meters, while in the 800 meter, freshman Nicholas Sachetta (Billerica, Mass.) and senior Ryan Stopka (Rochester, Mass.) placed second and seventh with times of 2:04.12 and 2:10.35 respectively.

Sophomore Jacob Movsessian (New Ipswich, N.H.) finished fifth overall in the 5000 meter with time of 16:10.88, while senior Joseph Darrigo (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Movsessian posted times of 9:13.69 and 9:26.61 in the 3000 meter.

In the 60 meter dash, sophomore Asante Monteiro (Fall River, Mass.) (7.21) and junior Zachary Joseph (Hyde Park, Mass.) (7.30) finished fourth and seventh, while Joseph added an eighth place time of 24.14 in the 200 meter.

Sophomore Timothy Sheehy (Wakefield, R.I.) posted a time of 4:44.16 in the mile after placing fifth overall, while in the 1000 meter, classmate Joe Weston (Middleton, Mass.) finished eighth with a time of 2:52.46.

Newcomer Michael Masterson (Pepperell, Mass.) posted a ninth place time of 55.59 seconds in the 400 meter, while senior Austin Landress (Winchendon, Mass.) turned in a time of 1:32.48 in the 600 meter.

In the triple jump, junior Wilkerson Pierre (Cambridge, Mass.) placed fourth overall with mark of 12.81 meters, while senior Brendan Courtney (North Attleboro, Mass.) finished eighth in the shot put with toss of 11.08 meters.

Junior Zachary Buckland (Billerica, Mass.) finished ninth in the 60 meter hurdles with time of 19.60 seconds, while senior Cameron Stalters (Norton, Mass.) added a tenth place time of 19.77 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles to round out the top Falcon efforts on the day.
