Falcons Place Fourth At MASCAC Championships
Green and Gold collect 81 points to place fourth overall
Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University men's outdoor track & field team placed fourth overall with a total of 81 points at the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Outdoor Championships this afternoon at Elliot Field.

How It Happened
Sophomore Christian McWhinnie-Armstead (Lowell, Mass.) paced the Falcons, claiming the 2019 MASCAC crown in the high jump with a DIII NE qualifying mark of 2.01 meters, while sophomore Jacob Movsessian (New Ipswich, N.H.) posted a sixth place finish in the 5000 meter with a time of 16:31.50. Senior Anselm Edegbe (Benin, Nigeria) was also strong for the Green and Gold, posting a DIII NE qualifying mark of 1.90 meters in the high jump after placing third overall.
In the 100 meter, sophomore Asante Monteiro (Fall River, Mass.) and junior Zachary Joseph (Hyde Park, Mass.) placed fourth and seventh with times of 11.62 and 11.92 seconds, while Joseph finished tenth in the 200 meter with time of 23.77 seconds.
Freshman Nicholas Sachetta (Billerica, Mass.) and senior Ryan Stopka (Rochester, Mass.) notched times of 2:04.00 and 2:09.78 in the 800 meter after placing sixth and tenth, while sophomore Timothy Sheehy (Wakefield, R.I.) placed second in the 1500 meter with time of 4:19.46.
Movsessian finished second in the 10,000 meter with time of 33:03.87, while in the 110 meter hurdles, senior Cameron Stalters (Norton, Mass.) collected a fifth place effort with a time of 16.80 seconds.
In the 400 meter hurdles, junior Zachary Buckland (Billerica, Mass.) turned in a time of 59.21 seconds with a fifth place finish, while senior Joseph Darrigo (Tewksbury, Mass.) added a second place time of 9:53.82 in the 3000 meter steeplechase.
In the field, Buckland (6.24m) and freshman Brandon McNeil (Dartmouth, Mass.) (6.08m) placed fourth and sixth in the long jump, while sophomore Wilkerson Pierre (Cambridge, Mass.) turned in a fourth place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 13.09 meters.
Buckland finished fourth in the javelin with toss of 46.85 meters, while senior Brendan Courtney (North Attleboro, Mass.) turned in an eighth place finish in the hammer throw with a toss of 36.30 meters. Courtney added a ninth place finish in the shot put with throw of 12.12 meters, while freshman Cody Soderlund (Middleborough, Mass.) rounded out the top Falcon efforts with a ninth place finish in the pole vault with a mark of 3.20 meters.
