Williamstown, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University men's cross country competed at the 2018 Purple Valley Invitation this morning, placing 14th overall with a total of 348 points at Mount Greylock High School with the meet featuring seven teams that were ranked in the top 25 nationally.

How It Happened
Fitchburg State was led by sophomore senior Joseph Darrigo (Tewksbury, Mass./Tewksbury)), who placed 42nd overall with a time of 27:14. 1, while sophomore Jacob Movsessian (Ipswich, N.H./Mascenic) was next, turning in a time of 27:24.3 over the 8K course.
Senior Anthony Darrigo (Tewksbury, Mass./Tewksbury) entered the chute with a time of 27:40.1, while sophomore Timothy Sheehy (Wakefield, R.I./South Kingstown) posted a time of 28:43.9.
Rounding out the top seven finishers for the Green and Gold were senior Stephen McCall (Brockton, Mass./Brockton) (29:44.3), sophomore Anthony Ortwein (Fitchburg, Mass./Fitchburg) (30:29.9) and senior Ryan Stopka (Rochester, Mass./Old Colony) (32:34.7).
