Falcons Picked Fourth In MASCAC MXC Pre-Season Poll

Fitchburg State collect 28 points to earn fifth spot in 2018 preseason poll 

FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State men's cross country team was recently selected fourth with a total of 28 points in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASACAC) Pre-Season Coaches Poll as voted by the league coaches.

Bridgewater State was selected to claim the 2019 MASCAC Men's Cross Country conference championship, capturing three of the seven first place ballots to finish with 31 points in this year's poll, while Westfield State and Worcester State tied for second with 2 points each

Landing in the fourth slot was Fitchburg State, the reigning MASCAC Men's Cross Country champions from last season with 28 points, which including the final two first place votes, while Framingham State was next in fifth with 13 points.

Closing out this year's MASCAC Men's Cross Country pre-season poll were Massachusetts Maritime and MCLA in seven and eighth with 11 and six points respectively.

The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's oldest Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men's ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as an affiliate member in football in 2013-14.

The Fitchburg State men's cross country team returns to action on Saturday, September, 7th as they host its annual Jim Sheehan Alumni Invitational Meet at 11:15 a.m. at the Doyle Conservation Center in Leominster.
