Johnson Selected MASCAC Softball Rookie Of The Week

Fitchburg, Mass. native earns second weekly accolade of the season

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Fitchburg State freshman Audrey Johnson (Fitchburg, Mass.) was Softball Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

The first year Falcons collects her second weekly honor of the year after batting .500 (10-for-20) with two runs scored, one double and eight RBI in a 4-2 week for the Falcons. Johnson went a combined 4-for-9 with a double and one RBI in two games against Westfield State on Tuesday before adding three hits and three RBI in a sweep over Rivier University on Wednesday.

The freshman infielder concluded the week, going 3-for-6 with a run scored and four runs batted in, in a double header sweep against conference rival Salem State on Friday afternoon.

The Fitchburg State softball team (23-13, 7-5 MASCAC) returns to action on Friday as they travel to Clark University for a non-conference double header, starting at 3:00 PM.
