MASCAC Women’s Basketball All-Conference Teams Announced

Marazzi named to MASCAC All-Conference Second Team

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Junior guard Angelina Marazzi (Manchester, N.H.) was selected to the 2018-19 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Basketball All-Conference second-team as voted on by the league's seven head coaches.

Marazzi posted a team-best 481 points on 38.7% shooting (179-for-462) from the field as well leading the Falcons in assists with 99. The second-year guard also netted 40 steals and three blocked shots in 26 contests for the Green and Gold.

Senior Lucy Barrett (Williamstown, Mass.) of Westfield State University earned MASCAC Women's Basketball Player of the Year accolades after guiding the Owls to the second seed in the MASCAC post-season tournament, while freshman Liana Cunningham, Quincy, Mass.) of Framingham State was named the conference's Rookie of the Year after leading the Rams to the third overall seed in the MASCAC post-season tournament.

Worcester State head coach Karen Tessmer was selected the 2018-19 MASCAC Women's Basketball Coach of the Year after guiding the Lancers to a 10-2 mark in conference play, en-route to capturing the top seed in the conference tournament.

Joining Barrett on the All-Conference First Team were Bridgewater State's Kailyn Aguiar (Acushnet, Mass.), Framingham State's Mary Kate O'Day (Berlin, Mass), Kia Fernandes (Wareham, Mass.) of Salem State and Worcester State's Brittany Herring (West Brookfield, Mass.).

Landing sports on the All-Conference Second Team along with Marazzi, were Melissa Gray (Peabody, Mass.) and Kierra McCarthy (Ludlow, Mass.) of Westfield State, Worcester State's Catherine Sweeney (Lowell, Mass.) and Emily Velozo (Tewksbury, Mass.) of Framingham State.

The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's first Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC core member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men's ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as an affiliate member in football beginning in 2013.
