WACBA All-Star Teams Announced

Marazzi named to first team; Coppinger selected to second team

Worcester, Mass. – Junior guard Angelina Marazzi (Manchester, N.H.) and classmate Catherine Coppinger (Boston, Mass.) was selected to the 2018-19 Worcester Area College Basketball Association (WACBA) Women's Basketball All-Star Teams as voted upon by sports information directors or primary contacts from each of the nine NCAA schools in Worcester County as well as members of the local media.

Marazzi earned a spot on the first team after posting a team-best 481 points on 38.7% shooting (179-for-462) from the field as well leading the Falcons in assists with 99. The second-year guard also netted 40 steals and three blocked shots in 26 contests for the Falcons.

Coppinger was named to the WACBA Women's Basketball All-Star Second Team after registering a WACBA leading 326 rebounds in addition to 297 points, 61 assists, 59 steals and six blocks in 25 contests for the Green and Gold.

Holy Cross junior Lauren Manis was named WACBA Women's Basketball Player of the Year, while Crusader's head coach Avery LaBarbera was tabbed Rookie of the Year. Worcester State head coach Karen Tessmer earned WACBA Women's Basketball Coach of the Year accolades to round out the major award winners.

In addition to Marazzi, Manis and LaBarbera, the first team was comprised of Worcester State's Brittany Herring, Morgan O'Donnell of Assumption and Becker's Adrianna Dowdy. Joining Coppinger on the second team were Ogechi Ezemma of Clark, Becker's Cassidy Harrison and Catherine Sweeney and Kaitlyn Berkel from Worcester State.

WACBA (Worcester Area College Basketball Association) is an organization billed as "one of its kind in the country" featuring nine colleges, 18 programs plus sports information directors and media members to foster friendship and camaraderie along with promoting the GREAT GAME OF BASKETBALL throughout the TRADITION RICH Worcester County Area.
