How It Happened

Bay Path grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute of action as senior Joanna Feliciano (Springfield, Mass.) deposited a shot into the back of the net for her team-leading 13th goal on the year. Fitchburg State knotted the score (1-1) late in the frame when freshman Elizabeth Read (Lowell, Mass.) gathered a feed from junior McKenzie Tenney (Orange, Mass.) and lofted a shot into the upper left corner for her team-leading eighth marker of the season.

The Green and Gold took the lead roughly a minute and half later with Tenney heading a ball into the right side of net for her third goal of the 2019 season off an assist from Read for the 2-1 edge going into the half.

Following the intermission, the Wildcats retied the contest (2-2) at the 62:44 mark when sophomore Carina Facchini (Chicopee, Mass.) settled a loose ball and riffled a shot near post for her second goal on the season.

In the overtime period, Fitchburg State broke the 2-2 stalemate in the 99th minute of the contest as junior Shannon McCarthy (Chicopee, Mass.) found Read, who slipped a shot into the back of the net for the game-winner, resulting in the 3-2 final.
