Falcons Nipped By Bears, 4-1

LeBlond collects second career tally in conference setback

Bridgewater, Mass. – The Fitchburg State Women's Soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision to the Bears of Bridgewater State this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action from Swenson Field.

How It Happened

Bridgewater State opened the scoring at the 5:41 mark as senior Emma Sanders (Seekonk, Mass.) connected on her fourth tally of the season for the 1-0 advantage. The Bears doubled their margin (2-0) in the 37th minutes of action when senior Alana Vincent (Taunton, Mass.) collected a feed from junior Samantha Tomaszewski (Sterling, Mass.) and put a shot inside the far post for her tenth tally on the year.

Following the break, the Bears extended their lead in the 64th minute of play when Vincent settled a pass from freshman Kelly Powers (Stoughton, Mass.) and notched her second marker of the contest. Bridgewater State tacked on an insurance goal minutes later with Vincent netting her third score on the day.

Fitchburg State cut into the deficit at the 68:41 mark as freshman Lindsay LeBlond (Candia, N.H.) collected a corner kick of the foot of classmate Elizabeth Read (Lowell, Mass.), who then headed the ball inside the right post for her second career marker with fellow freshman Kai Paddock-Picano (Waltham, Mass.) picking up the second assist, resulting in the 4-1 final.
