Fitchburg State Races At All-New England’s

Kibler sets school record in mile to pace men; Harrison leads women with solid effort in the 800m

BOSTON, Mass. (March 1, 2014) – Members of the Fitchburg State men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams were in action this weekend as they competed in the 2014 All-New England Championships hosted by Boston University.

On the women’s side, Fitchburg State was paced by sophomore Jenae Harrison (Sioux Falls, S.D.),who turned in a 25th place finish in the 800m with a strong time  of 2:23.65, while senior Samantha Wilkinson (Wakefield, Mass.) was also solid, placing 28th overall in the 500 meter with a time of 1:22.33.

For the men, graduate student Chris Kibler (Bath, Maine) continued his outstanding running, placing fifth overall in the mile with new school record time of 4:07.29. With his time in the mile, Chris currently ranks seventh in the country among all NCAA Division three schools.

Senior Pat Conaty (Southington, Conn.) posted his second best career vault of 4.36 meters in the pole vault, while junior Jim Quinlan (N. Andover, Mass.) was also strong, registering an ECAC qualifying time of 2:32.89 in the 1000m.

The 4x800 meter relay team of Kibler, Quinlan, freshman Matt Cuomo (Carlisle, Mass.) and classmate Brandon Hannon (Pelham, N.H.) also had a strong weekend for the Falcons, setting a new school record time of 7:56.76, while newcomer Brian Amaral (Tewksbury, Mass.) rounded out the top performances for the men with a personal best and ECAC qualifying time of 8:43.59 in the 3000 meter.
