Falcons Compete At 2019 Reggie Poyau Invite

Young and collects pair of top five efforts in the shotput and weight throw

Waltham, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University women's indoor track & field team returned to action this afternoon following the semester break as the Falcons placed eighth with a total of 12 points at the 2019 Reggie Poyau Invitational , hosted by Brandeis University.

How It Happened

Sophomore Kambrynn Bowman (Norton, Mass.) led the way for the Falcons with a fourth place finish in the 600 meter with a MASCAC qualifying time of 1:49.36, while junior Brianna Young (Mansfield, Mass.) placed third in the shotput (10.37m) and fifth in the weight throw (11.21m) to qualify for MASCAC's in both events.

Freshman Chloe Guzman (Pawtucket, Conn.) turned in a post-season qualifying time of 8.99 seconds in the 60 meter dash, while adding a MASCAC qualifying time of 30.95 seconds in the 200 meter. In the 800 meter, freshman Nyasia Torres (Fitchburg, Mass.) (3:10.77) and senior Jennifer Desilvestre (Beverly, Mass.) (3:13.77) finished 15th and 16th respectively to qualify for MASCAC's, while Torres added a post-season qualifying time of 6:49.61 in the mile with a 13th place effort.

In the 60 meter hurdles, sophomore Makaisha Gonzalez (Lancaster, Mass.) turned in a MASCAC qualifying time of 10.89 seconds with a 14th place finish, while in the field, Desilvestre placed 11th in the triple jump with mark of 8.72m.

Sophomore Heisha Santos-Flores (Webster, Mass.) posted a MASCAC qualifying toss of 9.25 meter in the weight throw with an 11th place effort, while classmates Madison Podedworny (Webster, Mass.) and Dominguez Guadalupe (Worcester, Mass.) rounded out the top Falcons efforts with tosses of 6.67m and 6.65m respectively in the weight throw.
