Falcons Soar At Tufts Snowflake Classic

4x100 meter relay team placed eighth overall with time of 53.31 seconds

Medford, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University women's outdoor track & field team placed 19th overall at the 2019 Tufts Snowflake Classic this afternoon with a total of two points.

How It Happened

The 4x100 meter relay team of sophomore Paige Anderson (Winchendon, Mass.), classmate Sylvia Owusu-Agyeiwaa (Webster, Mass.), freshman Chloe Guzman (Pawtucket, Conn.) and newcomer Denise Yeboah (Worcester, Mass.) placed eighth overall with a time of 53.51 seconds, while Guzman (13.40) and Owusu-Agyeiwaa (13.76) added MASCAC qualifying times in the 100 meter.

In the 1500 meter, senior Jennifer Desilvestre (Beverly, Mass.) and freshman Nyasia Torres (Fitchburg, Mass.) notched post-season qualifying times of 6:12.29 and 6:17.00 respectively, while senior Phedelia Boakye (Lowell, Mass.) turned in a MASCAC qualifying time of 1:10.64 in the 400 meter.

Owusu-Agyeiwaaput forth a solid time of 17.65 seconds in the 100 meter hurdles to qualify for MASCAC's, while newcomer Regan Kelly (Wilbraham, Mass.) added a post-season qualifying time of 2:57.87 in the 800 meter.

In the field, Anderson placed 15th overall in the triple jump with MASCAC qualifying mark of 9.52 meters, while Yeboah finished 18th in the long jump with a post-season qualifying jump of 4.56 meters.

In the hammer throw, junior Brianna Young (Mansfield, Mass.) (29.14m) and junior Kelly Mccusker-Brown (Watertown, Mass.) (27.03m) qualified for MASCAC's, while in the javelin Mccusker-Brown and newcomer Breanna Lizotte (Hudson, Mass.) turned in post-season qualifying tosses of 26.34m and 26.00m respectively.

Freshman Abigail Castelo (North Attleboro, Mass.) closed out the top Falcons performances on the day after posting MASCAC qualifying marks in the shot put (8.05m) and the discus (28.61m).
