Falcons Hosts Annual Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational

Young PR's in the Hammer Throw with toss of 36.13 meters

Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University women's outdoor track & field team 14th overall with a total of six points as the Falcons hosted its annual Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational this afternoon at Elliot Field.

How It Happened

Junior Brianna Young (Mansfield, Mass.) paced the Falcons with a 12th place, MASCAC qualifying  toss of 36.13 meters in the hammer throw to set a new PR, while adding a post-season qualifying throw of 10.49 meter in the shot put after placing seventh overall in the event.

In the 100 meter, freshman Chloe Guzman (Pawtucket, Conn.) (13.76) and sophomore Paige Anderson (Winchendon, Mass.) (14.31) placed fifth and 13th respectively to qualify for MASCAC's, while Guzman added a 13th place effort in the 200 meter with a post-season qualifying time of 29.322 seconds.

Senior Phedelia Boakye (Lowell, Mass.) turned in a solid time of 1:12.34 in the 400 meter to qualify for the post-season, while newcomer Regan Kelly (Wilbraham, Mass.) notched a MASCAC qualifying time of 2:52.64 in the 800 meter.

In the field, freshman Breanna Lizotte (Hudson, Mass.) (26.03m) and senior Kelly Mccusker-Brown (Watertown, Mass.) (21.72m) qualified for MASCAC's in the javelin, while junior Heisha Santos-Flores (Webster, Mass.) registered a post-season qualifying toss of 28.81m in the hammer throw.

In the discus, sophomore Abigail Castelo (North Attleboro, Mass.) posted a post-season qualifying mark of 25.32 meters, while Anderson placed 12th in the long jump with a MASCAC qualifying mark of 4.59 meters.

In the triple jump, Anderson (9.56m) and senior Jennifer Desilvestre (Beverly, Mass.) (8.86m) finished 12th and 13th respectively to qualify for MASCAC's to close out the top efforts for the Falcons on the afternoon.
