Women’s Volleyball Picked Seventh In Pre-Season Poll

Falcons notch 11 points in 2019 MASCAC Women's Volleyball Coaches Poll

FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State women's volleyball team was recently picked seventh overall in the 2019 MASCAC Women's Volleyball Pre-Season Poll as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

The Lancers of Worcester State University were selected to win the 2019 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball championship in a vote of the league's coaches. The reigning MASCAC Tournament Champions collected three first place votes for a total of 44 points.

Framingham State followed in second with a total of 43 points, including four first place ballots. Westfield State was picked to finish third with 37 points, which included the final first place vote, while Salem State was next, registering 35 points after being selected fourth.

Sitting in fifth was Bridgewater State with a total of 26 points, while the Trailblazers of MCLA were picked sixth after amassing 19 points. Fitchburg State and Massachusetts Maritime Academy rounded out this year's poll in seventh and eighth place with 11 points and nine points respectively.

The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's oldest Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men's ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as an affiliate member in the sport of football for the 2013-14 academic year.
