New London, Conn. – The Fitchburg State University women's cross country team placed 25th overall with a total of 780 points at the 2018 Connecticut College Cross Country Invitation this morning.

How It Happened

Fitchburg State was paced by senior Amy Kelly (Stoughton, Mass./Stoughton), who placed 131st overall with a time 24:29.9 over the 6K course, while freshman Savannah Wojcik (Belchertown, Mass./Belchertown) entered the chute with a time of 29:23.4.

Newcomer Nyasia Torres (Fitchburg, Mass./Fitchburg) was next to cross the finish line with a time of 29:24.4, while senior Jennifer Desilvestre (Beverly, Mass./Beverly) followed with a time 29:25.6. Rounding out the top finishers for the Green and Gold was sophomore Melony Ellis (West Yarmouth, Mass./West Yarmouth) with a time 25:32.4.

Inside the Numbers

Fitchburg State did not compete at last year's Connecticut College Invite.

The Panthers of Middlebury College took first place at this year's Connecticut College XC Invite with a total of 67 points.

Coast Guard Academy sophomore Kaitlyn Mooney (Manahawkin, N.J./Marion Military Academy) took top honors at the 2018 Connecticut College XC invite, posting a time of 21:09.0.
