Jenkerson Tabbed New Strength & Conditioning Coach

Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State University has named David Jenkerson Jr. as the new Head Strength and Conditioning Coach as announced today by Senior Director of Athletics Matthew Burke.

"We are incredibly excited to get to work with Coach Jenkerson. Coach brings a wealth of experience from all three levels of the NCAA." Said Football Head Coach Scott Sperone. "I was fortunate to be on the search committee and his references spoke highly of his ability to motivate student-athletes and help them to reach their potentials. Coach Jenkerson will be an outstanding resource for our student-athletes and will continue to build off the foundation that Jim McGuire set and help to improve our athletic programs."

Jenkerson comes to the Falcons from Cooper Sport Performance Center, where he was the strength and speed coach from 2014-2015. He worked directly with a range of competitors from high school to professional athletes.

Jenkerson was named Dartmouth College Director of Strength and Conditioning (Football) coach from 2011-2014 before making the move to the Sport Performance Center. At Dartmouth, he analyzed individual student-athlete performances and training programs including workouts and nutrition.

"I would first like to thank AD Matt Burke and the entire search committee for this incredible opportunity." Said Jenkerson.  "I am excited to be back in the collegiate setting and to be working with such remarkable athletes, coaches and staff. Fitchburg State is fully committed to the success of the student-athletes and Landry Arena is by far one of the best strength and conditioning facilities in Division III."

Jenkerson gained over six years of experience with stops at Dartmouth College, Valdosta State University, Georgia Southern University, and Saint Anselm College. Most recently, Jenkerson was a financial representative at Northwestern Mutual.

Jenkerson earned a Master's Degree in Physical Education from Valdosta State University and a Bachelor of Science from Springfield College in Exercise Science. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and holds a USA Weightlifting (USAW) certification.
