Falcons Fall to Panthers in LEC Action

 

Plymouth, NH – The Fitchburg State field hockey team dropped a 3-2 decision to the Panthers of Plymouth State in Little East Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Panther Field.

How It Happened

The Falcons tipped the twine first off a penalty corner. Senior Sarah Craig (Ashburnham, Mass.) had the injection hit directly to first-year Lena Kassel (Stuttgart, Germany), who blasted a shot from the top of the circle past the Panthers' netminder.

Plymouth State notched the tying goal just four minutes later off the stick of freshman Caroline Colman.

The Green and Gold had the only goal of the second frame. Kassel tallied her second of the game and sixth of the season off a scrum in front of the net at the 17:58 mark.

The hosts forged ahead, 3-2, with a pair of goals from junior Taylor Healey in the third period to seal the comeback.

• Junior Jenna Morse (Leominster, Mass.) made 16 saves for the Falcons in the setback
• Junior Kayla Antonucci turned aside six saves for the win
• Plymouth State held the advantage in shots (30-13) and penalty corners (19-6)
