Fitchburg, Mass. –For the first time since September 27th, 2004, the Fitchburg State field hockey team defeated the Owls of Keene State 3-1 in Little East Conference (LEC) action on Tuesday afternoon.

How It Happened
The Owls netted the first goal just four minutes into the game. Rookie Kalina Piasecki (Melrose, Mass.) knocked in her fifth of the season off a pass from sophomore Molly Murray (Gorham, Maine.). Keene State held a 1-0 lead after one frame.
The Green and Gold battled back in the second quarter. Senior Grace Kerr (Holliston, Mass.) laced a centering pass from the right wing to freshman Sophia Yates (Woodstock, Vt.), who had the tip to knot the game at 1-1. Sophomore Jessica Morse (Leominster, Mass.) forged the Falcons ahead (2-1) with a redirect off a corner play. Junior Sydney Alto (Chelmsford, Mass.) picked up the assist with a monster drive from outside the circle.
Senior Sarah Craig (Winchendon, Mass.) and Lena Kassel (Stuttgart, Germany) worked a play to perfection for an insurance goal for the Falcons in the third quarter. Kassel had a drive inside the circle that Craig redirected into the corner of the net.
Inside the Numbers
- Keene State held a 30-14 margin in shots while also finishing with a 12-5 edge in penalty corners.
- Jenna Morse (Leominster, Mass.) earned the victory posting 19 saves for the Green and Gold.
- Clara Gorman (Stratham, NH) made five saves in the setback for the Owls.
