Wilmshurst nets game winner for Green and Gold

How It Happened

Following a scoreless first period, Framingham State found the back of the net at the 15:43 mark of the second period when freshman Dylan Marty (New Richmond, Wis.) connected on his first collegiate marker for the 1-0 edge.

Fitchburg State knotted the score at 1-1 just three minutes into the final frame as junior forward Hunter Fortin (Westerville, Ohio) gathered a feed from classmates Gene Bouthiette (Enfield, Conn) and Rece Bergeman (Newark, Del.) and proceeded to deposit a shot inside the near post for his first mark on the year.

The Falcons grabbed the lead with just over six minutes left in regulation with junior forward Wyatt Wilmshurst (Maseena, N.Y.) wristing a shot into the upper left corner for his first tally of the 2021-22 campaign off a feed from fellow junior Anthony Ceolin (Simsbury, Conn.)  to make the score 2-1.

The Green and Gold added an insurance tally late in the third period as Fortin converted a break away attempt, slipping a shot into the right side of the net off assists from Ceolin and Bergeman for his second goal of the contest, resulting in the 3-1 final.
