Framingham, Mass. The Fitchburg State ice hockey team defeated the Rams of Framingham State University, 2-0 this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action from the Loring Arena. With the victory, the Falcons secured the second seed in the upcoming MASCAC Ice Hockey Post-Season Tournament and a bye into the semifinal round.

How It Happened

Fitchburg State opened the scoring 16:10 into the first period as junior Toivo Kramer (New York, NY) gathered a feed from freshman Michael Imala (Oak Lawn, IL) and poked home a rebound into the lower left corner for his sixth tally on the season for the 1-0 advantage.

Following a scoreless middle frame, the Green and Gold doubled the lead with just under seven minutes remaining in regulation when sophomore Trenton Skaggs (Oconomowoc, WI) blasted a shot into the right side of the net for his second score of the 2023-24 campaign to make the score 2-0.

After pulling their goaltender, Framingham State threatened late in stanza with junior Tyler Westfall (Annandale, VA) putting a shot on target, but Falcon keeper Frederick Soderberg (Harrison Township, MI) turned the shot aside, preserving the 2-0 final.
