Vikings Sail Past Falcons in MASCAC Action, 3-0

Fitchburg, Mass.– The Fitchburg State University men's soccer team fell 3-0 to the Vikings of Salem State University in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action tonight at Elliot Field.

How It Happened

After a scoreless first frame, the Vikings broke the stalemate in the 50th minute. Freshman Kendy Prince (Medford, Mass.) tucked a penalty shot inside the left corner for the 1-0 advantage. The Falcons countered with an opportunity from Gabriel Teixeira (Lunenburg, Mass.) whose shot screamed just wide of the net.

Salem doubled their margin (2-0) at 59:09 when sophomore Aaron O'Toole (Quincy, Mass.) knotted his first collegiate goal off a crisp cross from the right wing by Cam Downer (Dracut, Mass.).

O'Toole would add an insurance goal in the 82nd minute for the 3-0 final.

  • This evenings contest marks the 45th meeting between the two teams on the pitch, the Falcons are 9-34-2 all-time versus the Vikings.
  • Fitchburg State senior Sebastian Jaramillo (Dracut, Mass.) posted seven saves in the loss.
  • Salem held a 17-4 advantage in shots, and corner kicks (10-0).
  • Sophomore Francesco Campione (Newton, Mass.), Gabriel Ramos (Chicopee, Mass.) and Teixeira combine for four shots in the contest for Fitchburg.
