Falcons Open 2021-22 Season At BU

Fields leads the way for Green and Gold with top ten finish in the 3000 meter

Boston, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University men's indoor track & field team opened its 2021-22 campaign this afternoon at the 2021 Sharon Colyear-Danville Invitational, hosted by Boston University in a meet that featured teams across DI, DII and DIII.

How It Happened

Senior Trevor Fields (Shirley, Mass.) paced the Falcons with a tenth place MASCAC qualifying time of 2:01.46 in the 800 meter, while in the 3000 meter, sophomore Taban Manyok (Lynn, Mass.) (53), junior Samuel Flint (Methuen, Mass.) (64) and junior Cameron Davis (Gardner, Mass.) (63) turned in personal best and post-season qualifying times of 9:01.63, 9:37.36 and 9:58.92 respectively.

Sophomore Nicholas Zeoli (Plymouth, Mass.) registered a MASCAC qualifying toss of 12.33 meters in the shot put after finishing 11th overall, while in the 60 meter hurdles, juniors Adam Digman (Winchendon, Mass.) (9.08) and Benjamin Sacramone (Hubbardston, Mass.) (9.52) finished 17th and 26th respectively to qualify for the post-season.

In the 200 meter, sophomore Jeremy Allik (Natick, Mass.) (19th), classmate Dennis Regis (Stoughton, Mass.) (26) and junior Joshua Ilori (Peabody, Mass.) (30th) posted post-season qualifying times of 23.84, 24.41 and 24.73, while junior Tyssen LaBombard (Shelburne, Mass.) placed 22nd overall in the 1000 meter with a personal best and MASCAC qualifying time of 2:54.62.

Freshman Aidan Cattelan (West Hartford, Conn) turned in a MASCAC qualifying time of 5:04.86 in the mile with a 46th place effort, while classmate Edward Paiva (Taunton, Mass.) rounded out the top Falcon efforts on the afternoon, finishing 16th overall in the 400 meter with a post-season qualifying time of 55.16 seconds.
