Falcons Soar At Bruce Lehane Scarlett & White Invite

Felix and Shimiyimana notch DIII NE qualifying marks

Boston, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University men's indoor track & field team competed at the 2022 Bruce Lehane Scarlett & White Invitational, hosted by Boston University on Saturday afternoon at the BU Track & Tennis Center. In a meet that featured top competition across DI, DII and DIII.

How It Happened

Junior Nathaniel Felix (Worcester, Mass.) led the way for the Falcons after placing eighth overall in the 60 meter dash with a DIII New England qualifying time of 7.03 seconds, while adding a DIII NE qualifying time of 23.05 seconds in the 200 meter.

Junior Eric Shimiyimana (Worcester, Mass.) was also solid for the Green and Gold, placing seventh in the triple jump with a DIII New England qualifying mark of 13.44 meters to move into fourth place on the school's all-time indoor triple jump list, while also turning in a ninth place effort in the long jump with a MASCAC qualifying mark of 6.11 meters.

In the 60 meter hurdles, sophomore Shaki Auston (Springfield, Mass.) put forth a 41st place effort with a post-season qualifying time of 9.48 seconds, while junior Benjamin Sacramone (Hubbardston, Mass.) followed in 42nd place with a time of 9.52 seconds to also qualify for MASCAC's.

Sophomore Taban Manyok (Lynn, Mass.) posted a MASCAC qualifying time of 4:26.21 in the mile with 42nd place effort, while Sacramone closed out the top Falcons effort on the day, placing 14th in the long jump with a post-season qualifying jump of 5.84 meters.
