Falcons Compete At USATF New England Championships

Bourassa qualifies for DIII NE's in the shotput

Cambridge, MA – The Fitchburg State University men's indoor track & field team competed at the 2024 USATF New England Championships on Sunday at the Gordon Track, hosted by Harvard University.

How It Happened

Sophomore Liam Bourassa (Shirley, MA) led the for the Green and Gold, finishing fourth overall in the shot put with a DIII New England qualifying throw of 13.97 meters, while senior Eric Shimiyimana (Worcester, MA) placed third in the triple jump (12.76M) and 15th in the long jump (5.81M).

Junior Joshua Leaffer (North Andover, MA) placed 83rd in the mile with a time of 5:29.98, while in the 200 meter, freshman Jesse Moriello (Saugus, MA) (76th), junior Matthew Radder (West Seneca, NY) (82nd) and newcomer Jaiden Madden (Lynn, MA) (83rd) posted times of 25.42, 25.59 and 25.63 seconds.

Newcomer Matt Telson (Everett, MA) posted a 32nd place time of 54.26 seconds in the 400 meter, while graduate student Cameron Davis (Gardner, MA) finished 28th in the 3000 meter with a time of 9:49.30. In the 60 meter hurdles, freshman Matthew Gill (Ayer, MA) notched a fifth place time of 11.78 seconds, while in the 800 meter, sophomore Brady Madigan (Ayer, MA) finished 53rd overall with a time of 2:14.23.

In the field, junior Cameron Monette (Winchendon, MA) (12.46M) and freshman John Koutsouoa (Birdsboro, PA) (11.78M) placed tenth and 12th in the shot put, while Monette added an eighth place toss of 12.85 meters in the weight throw. In the long jump, newcomer Keenan Ansah (Plymouth, MA) (6.35M) and sophomore Cole Donelan (Fitchburg, MA) (3.34M) finished fifth and 34th to round out the top Falcon efforts on the day.
