Falcons Soar Past Cadets On Day Three Of The Fastpitch Dreams Classic

Grass connects on first home run of the season for Green and Gold

 

Myrtle Beach, S.C. – The Fitchburg State softball team continued their spring trip to Myrtle Beach this afternoon, defeating the Cadets of Norwich University by a score of 11-2 in non-conference action.

How It Happened

In game one, Fitchburg State took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second as senior Lundyn Forcier (Woonsocket, R.I.) singled through the left side, moved to second on a groundout and crossed the plate on a single up the middle off the bat of junior Sarah Cahill (Mansfield, Mass).

The Falcons doubled their margin (2-0) in the following frame when junior Dana Cisowski (Torrington, Conn.) doubled down the left field line and scored as freshman Isabella Sousa (Charlton, Mass.) single to right.

The Green and Gold extended its advantage in the top half of the fourth with Cahill singling with two outs, moved to second a walk from newcomer Ella Marshall (Gloucester, Mass.) before junior Molly Grass (Rockland, Mass.) proceeded to launch one over the center field fence for a 3-run home run to make the score 5-0.

Fitchburg State secured the victory in the top of the sixth when Grass doubled and scored on a single by Sousa before Sousa came around to score of an RBI fielder's choice, resulting in the 11-2 final.

  • Grass paced the Falcons, going 2-for-4 with a double, home run, two runs scored and three RBI
  • Cahill picked up the win for Fitchburg State, allowing two runs on five hits with four K's over six innings of work

Falcons continue their 2022 spring trip tomorrow as they take on Lebanon Valley and Hilbert at 9:30 AM and 11:30 AM.
