Gauvin Selected MASCAC Rookie Of The Week

Granby, Mass. native earns first weekly honor of the year 

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Fitchburg State freshman Julia Gauvin (Granby, Mass.) was named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday.

The first-year Falcon batted .450 (9-of-20) with a triple, home run, six runs scored, four RBI and a stolen base over six games for the Falcons. Gauvin went a combined 2-for-7 with a triple, stolen base and two RBI in a double header split with Rivier on Wednesday before adding a pair of hits, two runs scored and an RBI in a split with Plymouth State on Saturday.

Julia concluded the week, finishing a combined 3-for-6, including her first collegiate home run, one run scored and an RBI in a double header with Western New England on Sunday.

The Fitchburg State softball team (5-7) returns to action on Wednesday as they travel to Curry College to take on the Colonels of Curry College for a non-conference double header, starting at 3:00 PM.
